A List of Representatives PDF  | Print |

Since our last meeting, there have been numerous issues that have come before the union. Unfortunately, most have been discipline. We currently have numerous grievances that have slowly made their way through the process. It appears management’s idea of discipline hasn’t changed.  Within the last month we have had 1 member demoted, 3 terminated, 4 Predetermination Hearings held, 8 grievances filed, 10 grievances moved forward, 3 grievances being prepared and  numerous meetings trying to resolve prior to becoming a grievance.

As a reminder, the following is a list of Representatives:

Battalion 1 – Doug Cooper        28-B

Battalion 2 – John Parkhurst        58-B

Battalion 3 – Scott Dunn        57-A

Battalion 4 – Dan Horan         52-B

Battalion 5 – Mike Creel         66-A

Battalion 6 – Anthony LaPorto         65-B

Safety Representative – Scott Egan        30-B

Day/ HQ Representative – Maryanne Knuckles

Communications Representative – Kim Horan

Minority/Special Representative –  Nicole Stratman

All the Battalion Representatives have been busy working grievances within their battalion but don't forget to contact them with any questions.  If they aren't available because they're on vacation, for example, contact one of the other reps.  Please remember to contact your representative if you are involved in any investigation, fact finding, questioning or other opportunities that have the possibility of having discipline given. You must make the request for union representation prior to the meeting.

Watch over each other and concern yourself more with what to do instead of what not to do.

Clarification on FRS Contribution Rates PDF  | Print |

As you are aware, the July 15, 2011 paycheck is the first paycheck reflecting the mandatory employee 3% contribution. With this paycheck, many employees have also noticed that the County’s employer contribution amounts have also changed and it may “seem” that the overall contribution going the FRS has decreased. However, you need not worry because the total going to your account at FRS is not changing (see further explanation below). The difference is being picked up from the FRS Trust Fund as it has been in previous years.  Please review the below information as it clarifies how much is being sent from the employee and the employer as well as percentages from the FRS Trust Fund.
